The best color in the whole world, is the one that looks
good, on you!

Every year around
this time Mother Nature messes with those of us on the west coast and has her
own ideas of what
fall will feel like. But some things are inherent to a girl's personality, especailly a
girl who grew up in New York. So
my feet are
screaming BOOTS! My mug is
waiting for Hot Cider and my fireplace is
longing for
a log. I crave pumpkins, scarves, a cozy down comforter and BOOT,
BOOTS, BOOTS!
(did I mention
boots?)
According to the
Calender it's FALL, and as the leaves shed so should we, do a little
shedding in our closets that is. But before you buy anything new be
a budget conscious and creative fashionista and take stock.
Get rid of what you
do not
feel fabulous in. A good way to
decide this, (besides the old standard rule, if you haven't
worn it in ages), is with that magic question I like to
throw around - If you saw a women
in the outfit you are wearing right now, would you covet? Or send her back
to the
closet? No excuses, unless your in you're Pj's. I like to look in the mirror
and say "would Carrie Bradshaw wear this"? Think of your go to style icon.
And don't forget
to rip out pic's from all the fall fashion issues of the styles
you like and put them on your board or in your
folder, I call it
Fashion Boarding, where you keep pic's of yourself when you love what you are
wearing so that in a rush you can still look fabulous and not sit on
the floor
of your closet having an ICM (imoblized closet moment)
whining that you have nothing to wear! Use your board for things you
love that you see in the magazines
too. This will gear you to your
own personal style.
The basics for fall are
1. Keep out all
those tanks you wore all summer and pair them under a blazer a cardigan or a fluffy cozy
sweater.

2. Update your
jeans! Look for a great fit whether they are skinny, boot cut,
embellished or flair, go with what compliments your body.

3. Animal prints
like leopard accessories, my favorite.
4. A great
leather jacket, I prefer faux, I call it vegan, as in 'no animals were
harmed in the
making
of'.
This goes for purses and shoes too.

5. Great
leggins. These are basic but you'll find patterns and sparklies too, be bold!
6. Tunic tops and
long sweaters to go with those great leggings. And versitile
pieces like these from eco fabulous fashion designer Kimberly Wilson. Her
TranquiliT line
can make up an entire wardrobe, each peice converts into several different looks. Check out
her look book for ideas. Isn't this look scrumptious!
7. As for
colors this fall there are beautiful Jewel Tones like these from the runway
and Camel, (haven't heard the word Camel
since college), and other neuturals.
And don't
foget something sparkly or metalic.
8. Skirts have
gotten longer.
9. Pull out all
those capes and ponchos from the back of your closet (somethings
should never be purged!). These vests are back!

10. A Classic
Trench coat and a Chanely cropped jacket.

13. And of course
my personal favorite - BOOTS! Heeled, flat and cute rain boots
too.

15. A fab-u-less handbag or 2 or 3 and an evening clutch from
LA Trunk Show.
